We used the Advanced Agent to deploy the new agent after upgrading to 9.5. We ran in to an issue and it seemed to be related to a previous Symantec update that was applied and machines did not reboot before deploying the new Agent. Seems like there was a conflict with the Targeted Multicast service. One result was that a large group of machines removed all LANDesk related services but the "Targeted Multicast" service and one other. The LANDesk files seemed to be in place in Program Files but agents were no longer functioning. To fix we had to reboot the PC and install the agent using a self contained executable. We've worked our way through the machines that were in this state and everyone is updated but we still have a group of machines that are sitting there with the Advanced Agent service installed but they are not pulling the exe from the source. I looked at the logs and it should be able to access the location that it is attempting to pull the exe from but it doesn't work.
With the Advanced Agent process running I can no longer deploy a new agent to these devices. If I manually kill the Advanced Agent process I can then push the new agent using the other methods. Is there any effecient way to remove the Advanced Agent from devices when they are in this state?
I was hoping the Advanced Agent would work better for us. I'm having much more luck using a self-contained executable and sending this out to Preferred Servers.
